RR vs LSG IPL 2024 Match Abandoned After Spidercam Malfunction on Second Delivery

During the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, a unique incident occurred. Just two balls into the game, play was halted for nearly seven minutes due to a spidercam error. The cable wire of the spidercam fell onto the outfield, causing a temporary disruption. The mishap took place in the opening over when Mohsin Khan bowled to Rajasthan opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, resulting in a brief pause in the game.

Former cricketer Rohan Gavaskar, providing commentary during the match, mentioned that the spidercam wire had snapped and fallen onto the playing field. The engineers swiftly intervened to remove the wire and restore normalcy to the match. After a seven-minute delay, play resumed, with Naveen-ul-Haq dismissing Jos Buttle in just the second over of the game.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bat first, with captain Sanju Samson expressing confidence in the team’s batting capabilities. Lucknow announced Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, and Naveen as their four overseas players, highlighting their strategic choices for the match. KL Rahul, leading LSG, emphasized the importance of focusing on the game at hand, with his eye on T20 World Cup selection, while also sharing his experience of returning to play after battling injuries.
