Samsung is reportedly in the testing phase of its Exynos 2500 SoC, which is expected to power its upcoming flagship smartphones. A reliable source has indicated that the Exynos 2500 chip will deliver superior performance compared to Qualcomm’s current flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Although detailed performance information is not yet available for the Exynos 2500, leaked benchmark scores have recently emerged for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipsets.
According to tipster PandaFlash, the Exynos 2500 surpasses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in terms of both CPU and GPU performance. However, specific details regarding the chip’s NPU performance and overall efficiency are still unknown. It is important to approach this information with caution, as there are currently no concrete performance statistics or benchmarks to support these claims.
Preliminary specifications for the Exynos 2500, also known as the “Dream Chip,” suggest that it will feature a Cortex-X5 core clocked at 3.2GHz or higher, three Cortex-A730 cores with speeds up to 2.5GHz, and additional Cortex-A730 and Cortex-A520 cores with undisclosed clock speeds.
While benchmark data for the Exynos 2500 is not yet available, early insights have been provided for three competing flagship processors. Leaked benchmark results for Apple’s rumored A18 Pro show a single-core score of 3570 points and a multi-core score of 9,310 points on Geekbench 6.
On the other hand, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is reported to have achieved a single-core score of 2,845 points and a multi-core score of 10,628 in recent benchmark tests. Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship processor is set to rival the Dimensity 9400 chip from MediaTek, which purportedly obtained single-core and multi-core scores of 2,776 and 11,739 points, respectively.
These early benchmarks indicate that both Qualcomm’s and MediaTek’s anticipated chips will outperform the A18 Pro in terms of multi-core performance. More information on the Exynos 2500 is anticipated in the following months, with expectations that it will debut in Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy S25 series of smartphones in early 2025.
