Bangladesh’s Trio of Slip Fielders Commit Unbelievable Blunder with Shocking Dropped Catch

During the second day of the second Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, Sri Lankan batsman Prabath Jayasuriya had a lucky escape when three Bangladesh fielders failed to hold on to a simple catch in the slip. The humorous incident occurred as skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shahadat Hossain Dipu, and Zakir Hasan all attempted but missed catching the ball as it came towards them. Despite their efforts, Jayasuriya seized the opportunity and continued his innings after being dropped.

Jayasuriya was only on 6 runs when the catch was dropped. He went on to face 75 deliveries, scoring 28 runs and providing support to Kamindu Mendis, who remained unbeaten on 92 as Sri Lanka reached a total of 531 runs in their first innings. The mishap took place when Jayasuriya played a confident shot, resulting in a thick outside edge that flew towards Shanto at first slip. However, the routine catch turned chaotic as Shanto couldn’t hold on to the ball, leading to a series of missed opportunities by Dipu and Hasan at second and third slip, respectively.

Despite the Sri Lankan team’s impressive first-innings score, no player managed to reach a century during the match. Kusal and Kamindu Mendis batted in the nineties, while Nishan Madushka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Dinesh Chandimal, and captain Dhananjaya de Silva all contributed with half-centuries. Sri Lanka, having secured a commanding 328-run victory in the first Test, aims to clinch a series win following their strong performance in the second Test.
