Mahindra and Mahindra are gearing up for their highly anticipated first launch of the year with a teaser for a new SUV set to debut on April 29. The company recently released a video on their social media platforms showcasing the upcoming XUV3X0, believed to be a refreshed version of the popular XUV300. This SUV has been undergoing testing on Indian roads alongside the Five-door Thar SUV, building anticipation for its official launch. The XUV3X0 is poised to compete with fellow sub-compact SUVs such as the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Verna, and the recently launched Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor.
From the teaser video, it is evident that the Mahindra XUV3X0 will sport a redesigned grille, new LED DRLs, and headlight units at the front, enhancing its visual appeal. The rear of the SUV will feature connected taillights, adding a modern touch. Moreover, the XUV3X0 is expected to offer ventilated seats, a premium sound system, and a distinct alloy wheel design, setting it apart from its predecessor, the XUV300. These updates align with the spy shots of the XUV300 facelift and share similarities with the XUV400 electric SUV. Notably, the introduction of a sunroof will be a notable enhancement, marking a first for this model since its inception.
The interior of the upcoming Mahindra XUV3X0 is poised to receive several upgrades compared to the outgoing XUV300 model. Spy shots indicate that the new iteration will feature a larger touchscreen infotainment system, potentially similar to the units found in the Scorpio-N and XUV700 but in a more compact size. Furthermore, enhancements to the driver display are expected, promising a more modern and user-friendly experience for drivers and passengers alike. The upcoming XUV3X0 is anticipated to boast a range of new features such as a wireless charger, automatic climate control, upgraded upholstery, and more. A recent video released by Mahindra has shed light on some of the safety elements that the XUV3X0 is rumored to offer. The video showcases the SUV equipped with seven airbags, disc brakes on all wheels, and parking sensors at both ends. Additionally, notable safety highlights include ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS with EBD, ESP with Hill-Hold Assist, and three-point seatbelts as standard across all variants.
It is not expected that Mahindra will make any significant alterations under the hood. The XUV3X0 is likely to retain the same engine and transmission setup as the current XUV300 model. Presently, the XUV300 facelift presents customers with two turbocharged petrol engine choices and a diesel engine option. The 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine delivers 108 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, while the 1.2-liter GDi turbo engine produces either 128 bhp and 230 Nm or 250 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5-liter diesel engine churns out 115 bhp and 300 Nm. All engine variants are paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, with the turbo-petrol and diesel engines also offering a 6-speed AMT transmission for added convenience.
