Citroen India has recently unveiled its latest offering for the Indian market, known as the Basalt, set to hit the market in the second half of 2024. The new SUV Coupe, part of the C-Cubed program, is set to debut in India and South America. Following the successful launch of the C3 and C3 Aircross, Citroen aims to cater to emerging markets by offering efficient and affordable vehicles. With a focus on vibrant colors and sharp contrasts, the Basalt aims to be a standout model in the Indian market, combining the practicality of an SUV with the sleek styling of a coupe.
Citroen’s CEO, Thierry Koskas, expressed excitement about the Basalt’s launch, highlighting its bold design, interior space, and unique comfort features. The company’s strategy of local development and production reflects its commitment to meeting customer needs and expanding its presence in key markets. While the powertrain details for the Basalt have not been officially confirmed, it is anticipated to share the same engine as the C3 Aircross—a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine delivering 108 bhp of power and 205 Nm of torque with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine variant with a 6-speed manual gearbox produces a peak torque of 190 Nm.
