Toyota Kirloskar Motor has recently introduced the Urban Cruiser Taisor, marking an expansion of their SUV lineup in India. This new model, a result of the collaboration between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki, becomes the fourth addition to their partnership. Positioned as the most budget-friendly SUV in Toyota’s array, the Urban Cruiser Taisor takes the place of the now-discontinued Urban Cruiser model. The pricing for the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor ranges from ₹7.73 lakh to ₹13.03 lakh, with both prices reflecting ex-showroom rates. Bookings for this new SUV have commenced, with interested buyers being able to reserve their units by paying a token amount of ₹11,000.

In the past, Toyota has successfully rebranded popular Maruti Suzuki models, such as the Brezza, Baleno, Ertiga, and Ciaz. The collaborative efforts of both companies have also birthed mid-size SUVs like the Grand Vitara and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Additionally, there is the Maruti Suzuki Invicto, a rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross. To distinguish the Taisor from the Fronx, Toyota has incorporated some cosmetic modifications. These alterations include a distinct set of LED Daytime Running Lamps, alloy wheels, and rear tail lamps, enhancing the Taisor’s unique identity on the road.Toyota has introduced the Urban Cruiser Taisor with distinct front grille and bumper designs that align with the aesthetic of other Toyota models. The SUV is available with three different powertrains, including a naturally aspirated petrol engine, a turbocharged petrol engine, and a CNG powertrain. Each engine is paired with a standard 5-speed manual gearbox. The turbocharged variant also offers a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, while the naturally aspirated version comes with a 5-speed AGS.

The naturally aspirated engine delivers 88 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. When running on CNG, the power output decreases to 76 bhp and torque to 98.5 Nm. On the other hand, the turbocharged engine generates 99 bhp and 147 Nm of torque. The Urban Cruiser Taisor is expected to go head-to-head with other subcompact SUVs like the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and the Fronx.

Offered in five different variants – E, S, S+, G, and V, the CNG powertrain is exclusive to the base model, while the turbocharged engine is reserved for the G and V trims. This diverse lineup allows customers to choose the model that best suits their preferences and requirements.
