Following numerous reports hinting at BLACKPINK member Jennie’s upcoming solo comeback with an album expected in June, her newly affiliated agency OA (ODD ATELIER) has furnished a response to the ongoing speculations. As reported by Soompi, a representative from OA took a stance on the matter last Sunday. In an apparent move to shed light on the circulating reports, the agency’s spokesperson articulated, “Nothing has been confirmed” regarding Jennie’s purported solo comeback. Recent speculation sparked by News1 suggested that Jennie is actively gearing up for the release of a solo album slated for June, marking her re-entry into the music scene post her departure from YG Entertainment to establish her independent label OA (ODD ATELIER) in 2023.
Having meticulously navigated her career trajectory, Jennie finds herself under the umbrella of two distinct agencies. Despite parting ways with YG Entertainment, the powerhouse behind BLACKPINK, Jennie, alongside her fellow group members Lisa, Rose, and Jisoo, has opted to extend their contracts for collective endeavors under the management of YG Entertainment. This dynamic delineation implies that while Jennie continues to contribute to group pursuits as part of BLACKPINK, her solo ventures will be helmed by OA.
In a notable appearance on KBS 2TV’s talk show, The Seasons, hosted by the esteemed Lee Hyori earlier this year, Jennie delved into her brainchild label, ODD ATELIER. Quoting Allkpop, Jennie articulated, “I will continue to engage in group activities with YG Entertainment, but I aspired to embark on solo endeavors with more creative freedom. Therefore, I meticulously laid the groundwork for establishing my own agency. There exists a tight-knit team of individuals who have been by my side for an extended period at my label. My primary intention was to engage in a range of activities and promotional stints with unrestricted liberty.”
Making headlines with the announcement of her new venture, Jennie unveiled her brainchild agency in December of the previous year. Expressing her gratitude and enthusiasm for the forthcoming chapter, Jennie professed, “Hi, this is Jennie. this year was filled with many accomplishments, and I’m so thankful for all the love I’ve received. I’m also excited about what’s to come, as I start my solo journey in 2024 with a company that I have established called OA. Please show lots of love for my new start with OA and of course, BLACKPINK.”
Having initially embarked on her solo debut journey in 2018 with the chart-topping track “SOLO,” Jennie recently treated fans to a special single titled “You & Me” in October of the preceding year. Presently gracing screens in the new TVN variety show Apartment 404, Jennie continues to captivate audiences with her multifaceted talents and unwavering charm.
