Kabir Bedi recently received a significant honor: Italy’s top civilian award, the “Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.” He was awarded this prestigious recognition in Mumbai at a private ceremony, attended by his daughter Pooja Bedi, granddaughter Alaya F, and wife Parveen Dusanj.
Expressing his gratitude, Kabir Bedi shared how deeply meaningful this award was for him. He mentioned that it surpassed the previous title of Cavaliere, which he received twelve years ago. He also joked about the friendly online exchange between Italian Prime Minister Meloni and Indian PM Modi, using #Melodi, highlighting the need for collaborations between Italy and India in the film industry.
Italy’s President Mattarealla praised Kabir Bedi for his influential role in strengthening the bond between India and Italy over the last thirty years. He admired Kabir’s popularity in Italy across all age groups, which led to the decision to award him The Order of Merit.
The Italian Ambassador, Vicenzo De Luca, emphasized Kabir’s strong connection and love for Italy, mentioning that Kabir considers himself both an Italian in India and an Indian in Italy. This prestigious award acknowledges Kabir’s unwavering dedication and affection for Italy.
The ceremony concluded with a special live musical performance by Niccolo Fabi, marking the joyous celebration of Kabir Bedi’s remarkable achievement.
