Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal personally presented his arguments in front of the Rouse Avenue court in Delhi, which is currently handling the Delhi excise policy case. After the end of his seven-day custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader appeared in court, sparking high drama as he began his address despite opposition from the ED. Here are 10 key points from Kejriwal’s statements during the court proceedings:
Kejriwal alleged the creation of a false narrative of corruption around AAP in the excise policy case.
He questioned the basis of his arrest as a sitting CM due to the statements of four witnesses in the case.
Kejriwal highlighted that Justice Sanjiv Khanna noted the absence of a traced money trail in the alleged ₹100 crore scam.
Accusing a political conspiracy in his arrest, Kejriwal pointed out the coercion of individuals to alter their statements and act as ‘approvers’.
He mentioned the two-year duration of the case since the CBI initiated proceedings in August 2022, followed by an ECIR filing.
Kejriwal emphasized the lack of evidence supporting the alleged ₹100 crore liquor policy scam claimed by the ED, mentioning that the real scandal emerges post-ED investigation.
Despite being ready for investigation, Kejriwal expressed readiness to remain in custody for as long as required.
Alleging a racket and established money trail, Kejriwal highlighted that an approver, Sarath Reddy, donated substantial sums to the BJP after his arrest.
Kejriwal stated that despite his arrest, no court has declared him guilty, referencing the extensive documentation submitted by CBI and ED in the matter.
He emphasized that the ED’s agenda aims to suppress the Aam Aadmi Party, reflecting his views on the ED’s motives in the case.
