The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League is set to begin with defending champions Chennai Super Kings facing Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22. The IPL started in 2008, inspiring other countries to start their own T20 franchise tournaments. Pakistan launched the Pakistan Super League in 2016, which gained popularity in the country. Islamabad United recently won the PSL 2024, receiving a prize of 14,00,00,000 Pakistani rupees, while runners-up Multan Sultans got ₹PKR 5,60,00,000.
On the other hand, the Women’s Premier League 2024 champions, Royal Challengers Bangalore, earned more than the PSL winners. They defeated Delhi Capitals to win their first title and received INR 6 crore, while Delhi Capitals took home INR 3 crore as runners-up. The IPL remains the most lucrative franchise league with a winning prize of INR 20 crore for the champions, as Chennai Super Kings won last season. The runners-up, Gujarat Titans, received INR 13 crore.
