Fresh off leading Team India to a series victory over England in the ICC World Test Championship, Rohit Sharma had his first public interaction with the newly-appointed Mumbai Indians skipper, Hardik Pandya. Rohit, who was replaced by Pandya as MI captain after Pandya’s move from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai, assured that he will continue to support and guide Pandya in the upcoming IPL season. Pandya acknowledged that his move and appointment as captain upset some IPL fans but emphasized that Rohit will remain a crucial mentor for him at MI. The duo’s recent meeting at Wankhede Stadium put to rest any speculation of a rift between them. Pandya praised Rohit’s leadership and expressed his determination to build on the success achieved under Rohit’s captaincy. Rohit, a highly successful captain with five IPL titles for MI, will now support Pandya as he takes on the captaincy role for the team in the upcoming season. Pandya’s MI will face Gujarat Titans in their first match of IPL 2024.
