Riyan Parag has recently spoken about the criticism he has faced over the past few years as he aims to show appreciation for the trust Rajasthan Royals have placed in him since he joined them in 2019. Despite his impressive performance in domestic cricket, Parag has found it challenging to replicate the same success in the IPL. However, Rajasthan Royals have continued to support him this season by promoting him to the number 4 position, which proved effective in their initial match. In this game, the Assam cricketer scored a quick 43 runs off 29 balls, including three sixes and a four.
Parag candidly described himself as a unique character who is not overly concerned about others’ opinions. He emphasized that as long as he feels content with his preparation and performance, he is happy, irrespective of external viewpoints. The 22-year-old excelled in the 2023 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, finishing as the leading run-scorer with 510 runs in 10 matches at an impressive average of 85.00. Additionally, in four matches of the Ranji Trophy 2023-24, he amassed 378 runs in six innings at an average of 75.6, including two centuries and a half-century, with his highest score being 155.
Despite the buzz surrounding him, Parag remains unfazed and focused on his game. He acknowledged that while he is aware of the various opinions about him, he maintains a mindset where external chatter does not impact his performance. Parag stressed the importance of belief in oneself and not letting external factors influence personal convictions.
