Samsung has announced the rollout schedule for the One UI 6.1 update, revealing the introduction of Galaxy AI features to more devices in the Galaxy ecosystem. The update will include the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series. This follows reports of some Galaxy S23 series users in China receiving notifications about the upcoming update.
The One UI 6.1 update, the latest major update based on Android 14’s One UI 6.0 released in October 2023, is set to roll out in the US from March 28. The update will initially cover the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5, with the Galaxy Tab S9 series joining this week. The global rollout is expected to reach most users by April.
Samsung aims to provide more users with access to Galaxy AI features across various device types, offering a tailored mobile experience. The company introduced the expansion of these features earlier in March, and users can look forward to capabilities such as Circle to Search for visual searches on Google and Live Translate for real-time voice and live caption translations during phone calls. Additionally, features like Generative Edit for AI-based photo editing and Chat Assist on the Samsung Keyboard will be included in the One UI 6.1 update.
Recent reports indicated that TM Roh, President of Samsung’s mobile division, mentioned at a shareholders’ meeting in Seoul that Galaxy AI features could potentially extend to the Samsung Galaxy S22 series. Initially, these features were not considered for the series due to hardware limitations.
