Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 Enterprise Edition to Receive 8 Years of Android OS Updates and Security Patches

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Tab Active 5 5G, featuring an IP68-certified build and military-grade (MIL-STD-810H) durability. In a recent update, a Samsung executive disclosed that the enterprise edition of the tablet will receive Android and security updates for a remarkable eight years. On the other hand, the standard version will receive four major OS updates and five years of security patches.

According to a post by a Samsung executive on LinkedIn, the enterprise edition of the Galaxy Tab Active 5 will be supported with Android OS and security updates for eight years, continuing until 2032, providing new features up to Android 22. Meanwhile, the standard variant of the tablet will receive four major OS updates and five years’ worth of security patches.

The Galaxy Tab Active 5 marks a significant milestone as the first Samsung tablet with a promise of extended software support. This announcement aligns with Samsung’s commitment of seven years of Android updates and security patches for its latest Galaxy S24 series, while Google is also offering similar prolonged software support for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

The enterprise edition of the Galaxy Tab Active 5, available in a Green color, runs on Android 14 and features an 8-inch WUXGA TFT display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The tablet boasts Gorilla Glass Victus protection and is powered by a 5nm octa-core SoC.

Equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 is fueled by a 5,050mAh battery. With a MIL-STD-810H certified build and an IP68 rating, the tablet is safeguarded against vibrations, shocks, drops, rain, and dust. It also supports S Pen integration and features a face unlock functionality.
